About me
Dr Maria Kliesch, professional organizer – a bit about me, so you know who you're letting into your home.

Hello, I’m Maria.
It was a Saturday evening in 2019, 10 pm. I had just finished the first episode of Marie Kondo when I jumped up and threw myself at the kitchen cupboards in our shared flat. Somehow it caught on with both my flatmates too. And so we rearranged the entire kitchen in one Saturday night.
One day after another, I worked my way through every room. I went by Marie Kondo’s simple question: ‘Does it spark joy?’ My grandmother would rather have asked: ‘Is there any hypothetical scenario in which this could still come in handy, or would anyone be impressed to find this object here in our home?’ Thinking about possessions and order in a completely new way showed me that this isn’t about shelves, it’s about priorities in our lives. With every room I finished, I became calmer, clearer about who I am and want to be, and suddenly I had capacity for new things.
Because I love sharing what helps me, I offered to come and organize my friends’ places. What was an absolute nightmare for them was a highlight for me. And that’s how my journey to becoming a professional organizer began.
Today I help people in all kinds of life situations and stages, neurodivergent or neurotypical, to shape their home so that it supports them in their personal development. As a post-it in my friend’s kitchen so nicely put it: ‘A household has no needs.’
When I’m not organizing, I’m often at the sewing machine, out running, or spending time with our dog Fidibus in the woods and the mountains.

When you no longer know which paint box holds the colours that haven’t dried out, you end up not painting at all. We read untidy shelves as a constant to-do list – and a book doesn’t read half as well when there are things to be done.
A household shouldn’t have needs. It should simply run – rather than us running after it.
I help people in Central Switzerland to organize and declutter their homes. My aim is to put in place structures that fit the particular person and their everyday life, and that can be kept up in the long run without much effort.
Organizing means asking yourself the right questions. I start with simple, small questions to understand who you are and what your home should be for you. If a question can’t be answered straight away, we break it down into smaller ones until an answer comes that feels right.
I bring plenty of ideas and suggestions. But I will never tell you what has to go – and never push through anything that doesn’t feel like you.
If you’re not a DIY person, there’s no point in the toolbox being easier to reach than your books.
