Financial support – what’s possible
Organizing coaching isn’t covered by Swiss basic health insurance. There are, however, ways to reduce the cost:
- Ergänzungsleistungen (supplementary benefits, EL): help with tidying counts as domestic help. The Ausgleichskasse Luzern reimburses CHF 25 per hour, up to 16 hours a month. You cover the difference yourself.
- Hilflosenentschädigung (helplessness allowance): freely usable, without approval and without proof of use – so it can go towards organizing coaching too.
- Supplementary insurance: some policies include a benefit called «Haushalthilfe» (domestic help). It usually requires a doctor’s prescription, and reimbursement is often a flat daily rate.
